Richard Berti - Retired Accountant Dedicated to Education

Richard Berti worked as a certified public accountant for 26 years before retiring. He graduated from Woodbury College with a degree in accounting and went on to found and lead Richard A. Berti, CPA’s in 1963. Throughout his career he provided comprehensive accounting services, including financial reporting (preparing financial statements in compliance with accounting standards) and tax preparation and planning, which involved filing individual and company tax returns with the goal of minimizing tax liabilities. He also audited financial statements for companies, ensuring compliance with a range of laws.

Besides financial reporting and tax planning, Richard Berti also acted as an adviser to companies on matters of budgeting and forecasting. He analyzed financial data to create budgets, forecasts, and performance reports and advised executives on business strategies to improve profitability.

Beyond his work, Richard Berti has made a lasting impact through education and philanthropy. He taught accounting at Santa Barbara City College, Westmont College, and El Puente School, and later shared his creativity by teaching photography at the Westside Boys and Girls Club. He also supported work by the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse and the Endowment for Youth, Santa Barbara.

In retirement, Richard Berti does photography. He graduated from the Brooks Institute of Photography, and he is also an experienced potter and woodworker.
